WEEK 3, GAME ON!! CHARL AND PAUL ON A COLLISION COURSE…
We are into our 3rd week ladies and gentlemen and the roller coaster is only just gaining momentum, brace yourselves, we are here to entertain you and change your weekends like never before. This weekend, man of the moment Charl Jonck has a bone to pick with the phenomenal Paul Bennett. Charl has been attracting a lot of attention and making some serious waves becoming the Ultimate Player and putting all sorts of smiley faces in his bank account. The man hasn’t tasted defeat in a while but Sir Paul Bennett couldn’t be bothered by any of that, in fact he wouldn’t even bat an eyelid, come Saturday at Pool City in Port Elizabeth, the dogs will be let loose and this is one match that surely will tick all the boxes in your fantasy. Unbeknownst to many, The Gentleman is one of the most prolific, evergreen hot contenders of any title and he who writes off Paul does so at his own peril. Paul has great chemistry with the white ball and he has the loudest and most efficient breaks, the winner breaks rule by far favours him. Considering how well he breaks one can say that he somewhat has an unfair advantage over the Assassin; the poor guy can’t break to save his life. In the case of The Gentleman, his crunch time BMT (Big Match Temperament) is ala a butterfly, sometimes he is on song and he catches it but often not. If both athletes come to the party and neither grapples with the break then oh my, oh my, we will have ourselves a tornado as you would expect when two oceans collide.
Further along the Indian Ocean in Durban, a rejuvenated Kyle Akaloo takes on the seasoned Yulan Govender. For the first time in the history of the BPL, the Viper will be a serious threat to Hawkeye in his quest to become the new crown prince in country’s playground. Kyle is playing some top drawer pool at the moment and Hawkeye knows this too, Sbu Gumede already poked holes in the master’s confidence and that might be bad news for Kyle, I don’t think that Yulan will want to lose two in a row at the same time it might make the Viper believe anything is possible. A battered and bruised Aden Joseph will seek to redeem himself on Sunday when he hosts Ace at Louw’s Billiards in Bloemfontein. A win could be the much needed tonic for the ailing Predator, he already has 2 loses and is in the red zone. Will Ace increase the tally to 3 in a row inversely for Aden or will the Wonderkid rise to the occasion? Ace lost his first match to Paul and he also needs the win desperately. One of these guys will remain winless however at the end of Sunday.
In the 1st Division, Deon ‘Gumz’ Daniels takes on Yummy on Saturday and Rushin the Hammer Bowers on Sunday, Keeyam and Rushin have been on duty for the past two weeks and they have tasted both wins and defeats, Deon will be dusting his cue for his first match of the season. He knows his opponents too well; they play against each other time and again in the local Cape competitions although they will be meeting up for the first time in the BPL. The rookies will also take turns paying Leenash Padayachee visits in Port Elizabeth, The Hummer will be the first to welcome fellow new-boy Leenash into the big boys’ league and Keeyam will hope to finish off what Rushin would have started when he takes the same trip to P.E on Sunday.
In the 2nd division, the runaway Rea Vaya bus continues in clearing new ground in its quest for stardom. The bus knows no jurisdiction and has no boundaries. It was operating in KZN this past weekend and poor Shameel was ran over by the unstoppable bus. Will Zander The Sniper Kriel or Nelson Da President Stokwe be able to pull the handbrake and derail Thami Rea Vaya Jabavu? The bus has a Robot as a partner in crime, and the same Yacoob the Robot Shaik will have to take on the same Freestate duo for his 2nd and 3rd matches this very weekend too in Cape Town at 2 Shots.
