Ashraaf Haribhai “THE HUNTER” kicks the year off in JOY style!!
As the new year begun and so a new season kicked off and questions as to who would be the maiden stage 1 winner for 2021 were being thrown around Ashraaf Haribhai “THE HUNTER” raised his hand and answered that in style living up to his nickname and preying on everything that came his way. On his debut tournament in virtual Chinese pool he cruised to victory and clinched the R5k cash prize which was on offer and ofcourse a place in the Grand Finale which will take place on the 5th of June. Two-time finalist James is hoping that his turn will soon come and it will be 3rd time lucky as he has found himself in the same position twice since the inception of this tournament format by Joy Billiards. He succumbed to fellow Capetonean Ashraaf Haribhai in a thrilling Finale and in the process earned himself a whoping R3k,not shabby at all for shooting a few frames of pool. Undeniably one of the best young cuests in the country at the moment “The Machine” Irfaan Williams never took his foot off the pedal to reach his 3rd semi final in the history of this tournament. The 2nd youngest player in a strong 32 player field stood his ground and got to the last 4 where he narrowly lost to Marchelino James in an all Capetown affair. Together with the top 8 he also booked his spot in the June Grand Finale where the winner will pocket themselves a whole R100000 home make-over. For his sterling efforts he pocketed a cool R1000. Well-done Irfaan!!!
On her 2 previous attempts Amy did not get far in the comp and this time around form favored her and she was poised to go all the way until she abruptly fell to eventual stage winner Ashraaf Haribhai in a tightly contested semi-final. It was exciting to see her in such fine form and in future we can certainly look forward to seeing bigger and better from this Champ. She didn’t walk away empty handed as she got a lovely R1000 in cash. Well-done Amy!!!
