Felicidades to SANDILE LEGACY MADLALA!!!

Uncategorized

Four weeks on and Gauteng is still number one, felicidades to SANDILE LEGACY MADLALA our new trend setter in the Premier Division. Hard work always beats talent when talent isn’t working hard and hardworking talent is unstoppable. If anybody understands the challenge it brings along then that person is none other than Legacy; getting to the top is one thing but staying there is a whole different story altogether but that’s definitely not news to Madlala. Great orchestration and finesse saw Sandile easily cruise past his childhood friend, Sbu Gumede had no chance on Saturday, none whatsoever, Legacy unleashed the beast. The first set was over in a flash, with two apples in a row, Chillies could only watch and hope but Sah wasn’t taking any prisoners. It ended 4-1 in both sets but lacklustre Chillies lived to fight another day and fight he did.

It was business as usual again on Sunday in Sunninghill when Legacy took on a gallant Vishen at Ballbreakers. The Dish launched an all-out attack in a bid to make it a double which would have been a rare sequel following the stellar performance against Nsovo on Saturday at Dejavous. Vishen came out determined and blew Nsovo away and in the process fulfilling a very peculiar trend in the Premier league. Except for a mutant Kyle Akaloo and Gumede, everyone has followed the script to the letter. All athletes have lost to someone older than them. Nsovo has lost three matches back to back but maybe that’s because the last three opponents were older, I also didn’t know that age was a factor until recently. Let’s take a closer look at this:

Week 1

Paul (Older) beats Ace, Sbu (Younger) beats Yulan, Kyle (Younger) beats Vishen, Yulan beats Vishen, and Sbu (Older) beats Kyle. Only Kyle and Sbu went against the grain but everyone else has been predictable like clockwork.

Week 2

Nsovo (Older) beats Aden, Charl (Older) beats Sandile, Sandile (Older) beats Aden, and Charl (Older) beats Nsovo.

Week 3

Paul (Older) beats Charl, Yulan (Older) beats Kyle and Ace (Older) beats Aden.

Week 4

Sandile (1 month older) beats Sbu, Sbu (Older) beats Nsovo, Vishen (Older) beats Nsovo and Sandile (Older) beats Vishen.

I am not saying anything much but if this is anything to go by then Paul (Oldest) might just go unbeaten this time around and Aden might err… I think I need some more coffee. Sandile won 3 matches in a row and is the Sheriff’s Toast of the week, Aden remains without a win, Vishen registered his first win and Sbu lost for the first time this season, only Paul Bennett remains unbeaten. Do you think Sandile will hold on? Will Aden bounce back? Will age be a factor? Will Sbu finally get his first major title?

The 1st and 2nd Divisions were not without action Keegan and Azim took the trip to the KZN to battle it out with Sly and Lenny and the outcome was a very fair one. The Saturday belonged to the hosts and the Sunday was all about the visitors perhaps it took some settling in and acclimatization before the boys from Gauteng could find their feet and it was a good strategy by the hosts to strike the hammer while the iron was still hot. On Saturday Lenny took care of Azim 2-1 whilst Sylvester blew Keegan away convincingly 4-0 and 4-1. The GP duo managed to turn the tide on Sunday, Azim beat Sly 2-1 and Keegan beat Lenny 2-0.

Donovan De Donker and Juandre Jonck were kept busy by debutant Kevin Shushu Seseane and a mixed bag of results prevailed in the second Division. Donovan was not in a welcoming mood as such and a 4-1, 4-1 score line was the handshake that Kevin was dealt on Saturday by the gentle giant. Donovan is arguably one of the best sharpshooters we have in the league, the guy hardly misses. Kevin was not going to go back home empty handed and Juandre had to be the sacrificial lamb, it went all the way to the wire in the first set and Kevin registered his first and only apple of the match in a 4-3 thriller. The second set was not so difficult for the Free State muscle, 4-1 it ended.
