Gentle who, gentle what? Paul ‘The Gentleman’ Bennett packs a very mean punch…
Gentle who, gentle what? Do not trust anybody that says ‘trust me’. On the same note, some killers go by obvious names such as Assassin or Predator, Sniper or Viper etc. Now those are ok, at least they prepare you for the imminent danger that’s coming and they are not a problem, after all forewarned is forearmed. Be warned my child, there is a very deadly killer out there popularly known as ‘The Gentleman’. Do not be fooled, Paul ‘The Gentleman’ Bennett packs a very mean punch, be afraid, be very afraid. Do not let that gentle smile lure you close, within striking range Paul will punch you to sleep with a smile on his face and even an established Assassin was found wanting. Paul is the kind of guy that deals you a massive blow to the face and then performs First Aid on you {Such a Gentleman}. It’s a solid 2 in a row for Paul and a great way to start his campaign this season, it must have taken a lot to get the better of the ultimate player.
I don’t know who gives players their Nicknames but if the Sheriff had his way, Paul would have been anything but ‘The Gentleman’, maybe the ‘Undertaker’ or ‘Chuck Norris’ or Bolo ‘Yeung’, yep Bolo Yeung sounds about right, do you remember him? He is that guy that always traumatized Jean Claude Van Dame without saying even a single word throughout the movie.
Charl’s inability to break well is a serious bottleneck that continues to hinder his progress which could well be exponential. I however find it unacceptable that at this level the break, which by the way happens to be a shot like every other shot in the game continues to elude him, ok maybe that’s why I am writing and not playing. Paul had his foot on the gas from the onset and he never let up, and he eventually won the match 4-1, 3-4 and 4-2 and with that he also earns the Sheriff’s Toast of the week!!
Kyle has been tipped to be the next big thing in KZN, he is the chosen heir to the throne after Yulan Govender calls it quits, and that’s if he ever will. Until then the Viper has to be content at number 2. The status quo was once again resonated on Saturday at Ricochets when the pair shared the stage. Kyle took the 1st set 4-1 and looked convincingly potent in the six-apple thriller but the more things seem to change, the more they stay the same. Hawkeye doesn’t give out candy, he gives sleeping pills and the Viper took a handful. He only woke up from his slumber to shake hands with the Master-blaster after two sets had gone the other direction. Hawkeye won the next two sets 4-2 and 4-1.
Aden, oh Aden! What have they done to you? What happened to the Wonderkid, is he going to be one of those should have stayed young cases? Is the big league too much of an uphill climb or is the spotlight shining in his eyes and obscuring his vision? Three matches into the season and Aden Joseph remains without a win. Is there any coming back for the country’s favourite teenager? Ace was also desperate for a win and he wasn’t going to lose two in a row after Paul decimated him in the opener. Something had to give and Aden was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Yazeed made his intentions very clear from the word go clinching the first set 4-2 and although Aden took the second set 4-3, the same 4-2 score line was repeated in Yazeed ‘Ace’ Salie’s favour. Aden has only managed to accumulate 3 points from three matches.
Could it be that gums are just as dangerous as teeth? Well if someone without teeth had to bite me, I think it would be very ticklish amongst other things and I would die laughing if it killed me. Yummy and Rushin died a very ticklish death at the hands of the one and only Deon ‘Dangerous Gums’ Daniels. Keeyam took the first set 4-3 but that only made matters worse for him, Deon sank his teeth err ok let’s just call it teeth for now, he sank that deeper and secured maximum points for the set at 4-0. Yummy did good to go 3-1 up in the 3rd set but that’s become too common in his case, he was also 3-0 up a weekend ago versus Ishmael but somehow he can’t seem to roll downhill. Deon came back and out-muscled him 4-3 with two apples in that set, this was an all too familiar blow for the bubbly Yummy. There is more than one killer now in Port Elizabeth these days and not everyone comes out alive. Rushin ‘The Hammer’ Bowers was made to bow to Leenash Padayachee and that was a momentum breaker for the Cape Stalwart. Rushin went to PE on a high note having thwarted Ishmael just the previous weekend. Bowers won the first set 4-3 but Leenash also took the next set with the same margin but the 3rd set was a one horse race, Leenash took all for frames and all four points in that last set (4-0) maybe Rushin rushed in a bit there. Saturday’s fortune failed to translate into Sunday munchies for Leenash as he didn’t have exactly a Yummy end to the weekend. Keeyam atoned for his Saturday loss to Gums at Mr Padayachee’s expense winning the match 2-1.
Methodical and tactically aware Zander ‘The Sniper’ Kriel was an unexpected detour for the Rea Vaya bus on Saturday. In fact it is rumoured that the bus was out of service due to the drivers embarking in industrial action. Zander turned out to be too steep for the bus and the final scores were 4-1 and 4-2. Thami Jabavu also hosted another player from the Free State on Sunday, this time around it was none other than Da President himself. If you repeat 4-2 twice then you would have accurately stated the fate of the bus versus Nelson. Yacoob Shaik also hosted the same Free State players in Cape Town and as always he seldom disappoints, Nelson succumbed 2-0 and Zander lost 2-1 to the red Robot.
