BACK TO THE GRIND, WE MISSED YOU TOO.. ROUND 2 FIGHT!!
Just like that ladies and gentlemen we are back, the BPL continues this weekend and the Free State will be the centre of attraction as the replacement Killer Riaesh Pillay continues his search for that elusive first win. Taking over from Shameel has not been the easiest of tasks and Riaesh will be on the back foot for much of the season and it will be a miracle if he does survive relegation. Do you think Riaesh will make the cut, do you think he has what it takes? Riaesh is in fact a very good player, unbeknownst to many, Pillay has represented both Gauteng and the KZN a couple of times but perhaps the man is yet to find his feet after taking a sabbatical and the BPL can be very mean territory. Many athletes have struggled to juggle married life and the sport, we will have to wait and see how much table time Riaesh has been putting since February when he got married.
This weekend will be a hectic one for Pillay as he will have to take on every athlete in Bloemfontein, all three of them that is. He starts with a double header on the 3rd October against Zander Kriel at 12pm and Nelson at 4pm, both these matches will take place at BMQSC. We hope Zander makes it snappy lest the second match gets delayed. Kevin Seseane will host Riaesh in his final match for the weekend at Louws Billiard Room on the 4th at 1pm. Everyone involved in the matches taking place in the Free State this weekend has a common predicament, they are all fighting to survive relegation and they are all desperate, consequently the matches will be characterized by tactical and careful approaches with players not focused on flair but to secure those valuable points. The theme will be survival at all costs but if Pillay is a mood to play, he can and he might come back smiling with at least 12 points to his good.
On that lovers note, the BPL would like to congratulate Donovan de Doncker on his engagement last week and we hope that he will go on and win the league now that he has found the apple of his eye and new inspiration. Juandre will have to put this theory to the test but the Big Guy will want to make sure that the Monster doesn’t make his fiancée cry. Jonck will of course be out for revenge this time around and it can go either way really seeing that both these athletes seem to have lost their flavor somehow. They both started very well and won crucial matches but their concentration levels took a dip towards the end of the first round of matches. All the action will take place at Pool City in PE this Saturday at 3pm. If Donovan wins then he will stay in the top 3 and maintain a good position to contend for top honours.
Do not forget the Super Supporters Competition and a chance to meet the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Arnold Classic next year in Sandton where the BPL final Showdown will take place!!
THE BPL NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!!
